There is an old saying “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results”. By that definition, the foreign policy of America and specifically our “foreign aid” is completely insane. Bonkers. Nuts. Off it’s rocker. Cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs.
I read something the other day and it reminded me of this recent post: The Lesson Of Rhodesia.
Hat tip to Paul Kersey at Unz: With USAID Ending, Liberia - The African Nation Started as a Colony for Repatriated Slaves & Freed Blacks from the USA - Learns the Reality of American Exceptionalism
Liberia is a great case study for race realists to respond to “conservatives” espousing some variant of Magic Dirt Muh Constitutionalism. As most of you know, Liberia was created as a colony of sorts for freed slaves prior to the Civil War. In 1847 Liberia declared herself independent and formed a government based on the U.S. Constitution.
On July 26, 1847, the settlers issued a Declaration of Independence and promulgated a constitution. Based on the political principles of the United States Constitution, it established the independent Republic of Liberia.
Even their flag looks pretty familiar.
If the success of America is the result of our Constitution, then we should see similar results in Liberia. As you likely know, that is not what happened. Instead this happened…
As U.S. abruptly ends support, Liberia faces empty health clinics and unplanned pregnancies
….Phay is among millions across Africa who have seen their lives upended after the U.S. aid cuts. In Liberia, the American support made up almost 2.6% of the gross national income, the highest percentage anywhere in the world, according to the Center for Global Development….
…The sense of betrayal runs deep in Liberia, established in the early 1800s with the aim of relocating freed slaves and free-born Black people from the United States. The political system is modeled on that of the U.S., along with its flag. Liberians often refer to the U.S. as their “big brother.”
Liberia was one of the first countries to receive USAID support, starting in 1961. Its officials thought they would be spared from Trump’s cuts because of the countries’ close relationship.
Following civil wars and an Ebola epidemic, Liberia’s survival has depended largely on foreign aid, mainly from the U.S. and the World Bank. Despite abundant natural wealth, six out of 10 Liberians live in poverty, according to the World Bank, and Liberia is among the world’s 10 poorest nations…..
….Liberia received an average of $527.6 million in aid annually between 2014 and 2023, according to the finance ministry. This year, Liberia was supposed to receive $443 million, but the total estimated impact of the cuts is $290 million — essentially what hadn’t been disbursed yet….
…..But most of the U.S. funding went to Liberia’s health system, making up 48% of its budget. It funded malaria control, maternal health programs, HIV/AIDS treatment and community health programs. It financed hundreds of health projects run by aid groups.
About half of the funding for the health care system in Liberia was provided by the U.S. and absent that endless largesse from the American tax payers the “health care system” in Liberia is predictably collapsing.
As inevitably happens, free “aid” is always cheaper than doing it yourself and well meaning charities have created situations where native populations can’t feed, clothe, educate or provide medical care for their people because they never had to do it themselves. They get food and medicine from the U.S., so why bother doing the hard work of farming? In an extreme example I am very familiar with we go to Haiti.
After the earthquake in 2010, aid poured into the stricken island nation. A lot of Christian mission groups built orphanages for all of the children that had lost their parents. It was the Wild West down there, no functioning government and no oversight of what was happening. In one ugly incident a “mission worker” with Christian Aid Ministries named Jeriah Mast was molesting young Haitian boys and there is little doubt that people in leadership knew about it and still kept him in Haiti.
What was later discovered about these orphanages is that many of the children in their care were not orphans at all, and instead were sent to these orphanages by a living parent because the White Christians running these orphanages would provide food, housing and education for their children. Why take care of your own child when some gullible White do-gooder from America will do it for you? It was a huge scam being perpetrated on Christian churches.
Back to Liberia. Getting half a billion every year from Americans, “aid” that has been going on since 1961, has done nothing to advance Liberia and if anything has made matters worse. While the population growth has slowed somewhat, Liberians have been breeding like rabbits for decades leading to a country where around half of the total population is under 18. The per capita GDP is one of the lowest in the world, under $1000 per person.
It is a disaster despite having an American style Constitution and despite decades of aid from the U.S. This tweet from Robert Sepehr helps to explain why having a Constitution modeled on the U.S. Constitution hasn’t made Liberia a paradise (arrow and label mine)….
An average IQ of 45.1 means that around half of the people in Liberia have an IQ below 45. That is well into severely retarded range. Recall in Forrest Gump that Forrest was considered comically stupid because his IQ was 75 and on the chart shown by the principle it only goes as low as 60.
In Liberia Forrest Gump would be the smartest person in the country by a wide margin with in IQ of 75, 30 points above average.
For some reason a lot of people think that it is the moral obligation of the taxpayers of the United States to pay for basic services in shitholes around the world in perpetuity. Liberia isn’t going to ever be anything other than a shithole no matter how much money we send them. It is a bottomless pit of need and dependency and the more you feed it, the more they breed and the more dependent they become. It’s a vicious circle.
The only humane and realistic solution is to cut off all aid to places like Libera and Haiti. Let nature take over. If anyone survives they will be the smartest or at least the most ruthless. If no one survives? Well I could probably get 50 young Amish couples to move to Haiti and they would turn that place into a paradise inside of a generation.
No one has an inalienable right to money from America and if you are too dumb to stop humping without basic contraception….you deserve to die out. Not every people group was meant to survive and it is high time we stop subsidizing failure.
But women think we have to give free money to anyone who wants it, and anything else would be mean.....The US committed slow motion suicide when we gave women the right to vote...
With a 45 IQ, I doubt there is an inner monologue, or any real consciousness. Perhaps a Liberian can understand spoken language. But beyond that he is reacting to external stimuli. There can be little planning or time preference. Assuming Haitians have a similar IQ, importing them into US is a criminal act.
