4 shot in Waffle House parking lot in Delaware, police say

A mass shooting left four people wounded early Saturday in a Waffle House parking lot in Delaware, state police said.

Just after midnight on July 18, troopers responded to the Waffle House in Newark for a reported shooting, according to a Delaware State Police news release. Troopers found three people with gunshot wounds in the restaurant’s parking lot.

A 20-year-old man, a 19-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman were taken to a hospital for serious and non-life-threatening injuries, police said. A fourth person, a 17-year-old girl, was later transported to a hospital by a personal vehicle to receive treatment for injuries that were not life-threatening.

State Police think an unknown suspect or suspects from a large crowd that had gathered in the parking lot fired multiple shots at the four people before fleeing the scene.

Newark, Delaware is only 15% black but that is apparently plenty.
